Hiring Workers
In small businesses, the Human Resource function "overlaps"
with the bookkeeping function.
For instance, Form W-4 should be filled out when hired -
because it lists the number of exemptions for payroll.
Additionally, Form I-9 is also required to be filled out upon employment -
because it lists ~2 forms of identification,
to be sure this person is legally entitled to work in the U.S.!
For payroll and audit purposes,
the full-charge bookkeeper should be on top of these two forms at hiring time.
Form W-4 is available from the IRS > "FormsPubs" link.
And, Form I-9 is available - HERE or http://www.formi9.com/.
